Description	Le sujet de la communication tournera autour du texte dans un environnement socio-culturel restreint. Il s'inscrit dans un cadre plus large qui a pour objectif de rendre accessible la problématique des langues créoles et la créolistique en tant que telle. Le contexte historique spécifique a eu pour conséquence l'apparition des langues créoles qui, d?s le début, étaient considérées comme imparfaites et indignes de susciter l'attention de chercheurs ni de leurs locuteurs. ? l'heure actuelle la situation change et certains pays ont vu leur promotion comme langue officielle au m?me niveau que les langues européennes. Dans ma th?se, je me focalise sur l'espace de l'Océan Indien, plus précisément sur les Seychelles o? justement le créole local a gagné en importance tout en devenant langue d'enseignement et de littérature. Des freins d'ordre sociaux et mentaux emp?chent pourtant la production et la consommation littéraire et il demeure un important écart entre les propos officiels, qui prônent le trilinguisme, dit équilibré, et la réalité vécue par les lecteurs seychellois qui s'obstinent a continuer de lire en anglais. Les questions que nous nous poserons concerneront ces freins ainsi que le statut du texte en créole aux Seychelles. The topic of this paper is to point out the problems of the text in a restricted socio cultural environment. It is a part of a broader framework in order to introduce the problems of creole languages and creole studies as such to the public. The specific historical context has resulted in the emergence of creole languages, which from the beginning were considered imperfect and unworthy to attract the attention of linguist professionals and of their speakers as well. Nowadays the situation changes and some creole speaking countries see the promotion of their creole to an official language, which gives it the same level as European languages have. In my thesis, I focus on the area of Indian Ocean, especially the Seychelles, where actually the local Creole gained importance by becoming the language of education and literature. Social and mental barriers yet prevent the production and consumption of literature and differences between official statements advocating trilingual called ? équilibré ? (voir) and the reality of Seychellois readers, who persist to continue to read in English, still remains. The question we ask concerns the barriers and status of the text in the Seychelles Creole.
