  • This work summarises recent advances in quantum chemical calculations of base-stacking forces in nucleic acids. Details of very complex relationship between the gas-phase basestacking energies, as revealed by quantum chemical (QM) calculations, and the highly variable roles of these interactions in nucleic acids. This issue is rarely discussed in quantum chemical and physical chemistry literature. We further extensively discuss methods that are available for basestacking studies and complexity of comparison of stacking calculations with gas phase experiments.

  • Práce sumarizuje výhody kvantově chemických výpočtů sil, které určují stacking interakce v bázích nukleových kyselin. Jsou popisovány velmi komplexní vztahy mezi energiemi stackingu bází v plynné fázi tak, jak je odhalily kvantově-chemické výpočty, a také velice proměnné role těchto interakcí v nukleových kyselinách. Dále jsou diskutovány metody pomocí kterých můžeme studovat stacking a komplexita srovnání kvantově-chemických výpočtů s experimenty v plynné fázi. (cs)
