The long-term time series of studying water regime on the system of 3 field research stations in the Orlické hory Mts. including mesaurement of course of flood events on the one hand and dry periods on the other hand will be the basis for the main objects of the submitted project. The basic role of the project is to assess and interpret possibilities of mountain forests and their management with aim to influence extreme situations partly during rainstorms partly during long-term precipitation free periods. The project objective will be attained by use of the results from all three stations described below. In the oldest field research station (FRS) Deštné, are studied all components of water budget of main tree species (Norway spruce and European beech) in mountain locations since 1976. The second FRS Česká Čermná serves for the study of hillslope runoff. Differences in runoff between clear felling, shelterwood felling and a mature Norway spruce stand are studied since 1979. The third FRS, a small (en)
