| Description
| - The objective of the project is to examine and use the variability in donors with differentiated content of natural compounds with ambivalent nutritional effects for prebreeding of spring barley materials with increased nutritional grain quality for non-malting, feeding and/or food use. Based on the development, elaboration and optimization of methods for the assessment of selected nutritionally significant compounds in grain (non-starch polysaccharides, selected phenolic acids, vitamin E, total antioxidative capacity, etc.), optimization and validation of appropriate genetic markers, characterization of vegetative, biological and agronomic traits of both initial and newly developed donors, bases for recommendations and further exploitation of these barley materials in breeding and research will be obtained.
