Description	The project is focused on the study of cellular and molecular mechanisms of immune reaction after xenotransplantation and on comparison of the response to allo- and xenoantigens. Emphasis will be paied to the role of macrophages and other cell populations during rejection of xenografts and to exploration of the functional role of cytokines and other immunoregulatory molecules after xenotransplantation. Aimed interventions into immunoregulatory mechanisms will be made with the goal to obtain prolonged or even permanent survival of corneal xenografts. (en) Předmětem řešení je studium buněčných a molekulárních mechanismů imunitní reakce po xenotransplantaci a srovnání odpovědi na alo-a xenotransplantát kůže a rohovky. Důraz bude kladen na studium role makrofágů a jiných buněčných populací při rejekci xenotransplantátů a na objasnění role cytokinů a dalších imunoregulačních molekul po xenotransplantaci. Na základě získaných poznatků budou prováděny cílené zásahy do imunoregulačních mechanismů s cílem dosáhnout prodlouženého až permanentního přežívání ortotopických xenotransplantátů rohovky.
