Description	Distributed data management on the Grid: Interactions of cosmic ray particles with nuclei of air gases at energies many orders of magnitude above the current accelerator capabilities induce unprecedented extensive air showers in the atmosphere. These showers are measured by the Pierre Auger Observatory in Argentina. Different interaction models are used to describe the first interactions in such showers and their predictions are confronted with measured shower characteristics. The usual simulation chain consists of CORSIKA simulations of showers, OFFLINE reconstruction of those showers and simulations of the detector response to those simulated showers, and the delivery of simulated data to the Users. Since the shower simulation is time consuming (several hours per shower on both CORSIKA and OFFLINE levels), the simulation part of the chain benefits from the Grid computing resources. Grid Virtual Organization AUGER is maintained since 2006 by the Czech Auger group in cooperation with CESNET (en) Správa distribuovaných dat na gridu: Interakce kosmického záření o energiích mnohonásobně převyšujících současné možnosti urychlovačů s jádry plynů v atmosféře vytvářejí rozlehlé atmosférické spršky sekundárních částic. Tyto spršky měří observatoř Pierra Augera v Argentině. Pro teoretický popis interakcí primárních i sekundárních částic se používají různé modely jádro-jaderných srážek. Jejich předpovědi jsou konfrontovány s měřením. Simulační kanál zahrnuje simulace spršek programem CORSIKA, odezvu detektoru a rekonstrukci dat v nástroji OFFLINE a také transfer simulovaných dat k uživatelům. Protože jsou simulace časově náročné (několik hodin pro jednu spršku jak pro program CORSIKA tak i OFFLINE), simulační část kanálu je prováděná pomocí gridových zdrojů. Od roku 2006 spravuje česká skupina observatoře Pierra Augera ve spolupráci s organizací CESNET gridovou virtuální organizaci AUGER.
