Description
| - Soils deform is various ways. The most important are: deformation due to diffusion, particle breakage and compression after debonding. Particle breakage (cataclastic deformation) is the best identifiable mechanism, debonding (destructuralization) can be best modelled in the laboratory and diffusion is the most exotic one. This grant project can be characterised by the key-words: inborn and induced structure, reconstituted and bonded soil (specimen), garland- and fringe- like (oscillatory) stress-strain diagrams, deformation by diffusion, including the effects of density, load, particle breakage, particle strength and proposity (mono- and biporous soils). Using laboratory experiments, the project will analyse cataclastic deformation with the development of the final grading curve. Deformation by diffusion and its decisive factors and the origin and destruction of structural bonding will be studied. The research into deformation processes is expected to yield useful knowledge for practice.

(cs)
