Description	The goal of the project is to present the analysis and the explanation of the genesis of the individual components of the ceremonies and custom traditions connected with birth and death as existentially turning points in the course of life of a man. It shall reveal the contextual, formal and functional changes of the above ceremonies within broader culturally-historical context. The source basis will be represented by written materials from the second half of the 19th century and those from the beginning of the 20th century, which will be confronted with the knowledge obtained in the terrain investigations in the recent 20 years. The project shall concentrate on the expression of the influence of ceremonies as standards/maxims as well as on their task in the process of cultural, social and athnical identity. The interpretation of the material will constitute the presuppositions for the comparison with the results of similar investigations abroad. (en) Cílem projektu je analýza a výklad geneze jednotlivých složek obřadů a obyčejů, spjatých s narozením a úmrtím jako existenciálně mezních okamžiků v životním cyklu člověka. Objasní obsahové, formální a funkční proměny těchto obřadů v širších kulturně historických a sociálních souvislostech.) Pramennou základnu budou tvořit písemné materiály z druhé poloviny 19. století a z počátku 20. století, konfrontované s poznatky terénních výzkumů posledního desetiletí. Projekt se zaměří na postižení normotvorného působení obřadů a na jejich úlohu v procesu kulturní, sociální a etnické identity. Interpretace materiálu, který nebyl dosud v našem oboru syntetizován, vytvoří předpoklady pro srovnání s výsledky podobného bádání v zahraničí a přispěje k poznání specifických rysů české lidové kultury.
