Description	To study the disturbance history of primeval forests, dendrochronological methods are used worldwide. Such studies are based on the principle that originally suppressed trees respond to growth release in the form of increased radial increment. The criteria by which the growth of tree-ring thickness can be considered as a release (and thus a disturbance event) have been almost always set by conventional tools. Moreover, a number of growth changes are caused by other variables (such as weather) and these must not be confused with disturbance events. This project intends to assess the response of Fagus sylvatica L., Picea abies (L.) Karsten, Abies alba Mill. to disturbance events in the form of radial increment and to evaluate this response in relation to tree-level variables (species of the cored tree, social status of tree, diameter at breast height, distance from the centre of the gap) and gap-level variables (gap size, number and character of gap-makers, habitat characteristics). On the basis of these findings, empirical criteria for dendrochronological methods will be proposed. (en) Ke studiu disturbanční historie přirozených lesů se celosvětově využívají dendrochronologické metody založené na principu odezvy původně potlačených stromů na uvolnění růstového prostoru v podobě zvýšeného radiálního přírůstu. Kritéria, od kterých lze nárůst tloušťky letokruhů již považovat za uvolnění (a tedy disturbanční událost) byla ovšem zatím témeř vždy stanovena konvenčně. Řada růstových změn má navíc jiné příčiny (počasí aj.) a tyto nesmí být zaměněny za disturbanční událost. Tato studie si klade za cíl vyhodnotit odezvu disturbančních událostí v radiálním růstu hlavních dřevin středoevropského temperátního lesa (Fagus sylvatica L., Picea abies (L.) Karsten, Abies alba Mill.) a posoudit ji ve vztahu k vlastnostem reagujících stromů (druh dřeviny, siciální postavení, výčetní tloušťka, vzdálenost od středu gapu) a ke znakům disturbanční události (velikost gapu, počet a druh vyvrácených stromům character stanoviště). Na základě těchto poznatků budou navržena empiricky podložená kritéria pro dendrochronologické metody.
