Description	The principle of the project is detection, isolation and genotyping of porcine picornaviruses in pig breeding in the Czech Republic. Genus Porcine enterovirus (PEV) was reclassified according to genetic analyses as follows: Teschovirus (PTV), PEV-A and PEV-B. Although PTV/PEV infections are most frequently asymptomatic, some strains have been associated with a wide variety of clinical conditions. A highly fatal encephalomyelitis of pigs (Teschen disease) culminated in Czechoslovakia in the 1950's. Recently, occurence of PTV/PEV in the Czech Republic is not observed. The aim of the project is detection of PTV/PEV in field samples using virus isolation in cell cultures, reverse transcription, PCR and sequencing. Prototype PTV/PEV strains stored at the Collection of Animal Pathogenic Microorganisms (CAPM) will be used as reference strains. Viral isolates will be included into the viral collection of the CAPM. Obtained results will contribute to differential diagnosis of porcine viral diseases within the research plan of the Veterinary Research Institute. (en) Cílem projektu je sledovat výskyt porcinních teschovirů a enterovirů v chovech prasat v ČR metodami izolace na buněčných kulturách a molekulární diagnostiky. Získané izoláty budou zařazeny do katalogu virových kmenů sbírky jako příspěvek k uchování genofondu.
