Description	Chlorine is one of the most abundant elements in nature, which undergoes a complex biogeochemical cycle. Cl bound in some substances is partly responsible for atmospheric ozone depletion and contamination of some ecosystems. As due to international regulations anthropogenic burden of volatile chlorinated hydrocarbons (VCH) in atmosphere decreases, natural sources (plants, soil, abiotic formation) became significant, but the information on their extent is still scarce. Examples of plant VCH production are methyl chloride, chloroform, 1,1,1-trichloroethane and tetrachloromethane. The aim of this project is to confirm the formation and identify the formed VCH by common forest plant species, to assess the burden of naturally formed VCH in coniferous forest ecosystems, hence filling a gap of knowledge in the biogeochemical cycle of chlorine. A combination of methods will be used to measure VCH; cryotrapping/cryofocusing from headspace followed by GC-ECD/MS detection, as well as balance studies and visualization in plants by digital autoradiography by help of radioisotope chlorine 36. (en) Cílem je potvrzení tvorby a stanovení identity těkavých chlorovaných látek lesními rostlinnými druhy, odhad zátěže především chloroformu, 1,1,1-trichloretanu, tetrachlormetanu a methyl chloridu v jehličnatých lesních ekosystémech, aby se tak zaplnila mezera ve znalosti biogeochemického cyklu chloru.
