Description	The aim of the project is the study of the philosophical thought of John of Jessen (1566-1621) and the presentation of his thought in the context of Renaissance philosophy. The analysis of not only philosophical writings of Jessenius but also of his medical, political and occasional treatises, in which the philosophical problems are also involved, will be completed. Although John of Jessen is one of the most important figure of the intellectual movement in Czech lands and in Central Europe around the turn of the 16th and the 17th century, a comlex treatment of the theme of his philosophical thought is still missing. The basic result of the project will be a monograph divided according to following themes: Lutheran Aristotelianism, Paduan Aristotelianism, Reniassance Platonism, anthropology, astrology, political philosophy. The intended monograph will be thus not only an exposition of the philosophy of one figure but also a presentation of the main streams in the philosophical thought in (en) Cílem projektu je představení filosofického myšlení Jana Jesenského - Jessenia (1566 - 1621) a jeho zasazení do kontextu dobové renesanční filosofie. Bude provedena analýza nejen Jesenského filosofických spisů, ale také spisů lékařských, politických a příležitostných, v nichž je filosofická problematika také obsažena. Přestože Jan Jesenský patří mezi nejvýznamnější postavy intelektuálního dění v Českých zemích a v celé Střední Evropě v období přelomu renesance a novověku, komplexní zpracování problematiky jeho filosofického myšlení dosud chybí. Základním výstupem projektu bude monografie, která bude členěna podle jednotlivých analyzovaných témat: lutheránských aristotelismus, padovský aristotelismus, renesanční platonismus, nauka o člověku, astrologie, politická filosofie. Práce tak bude nejen pojednáním o filosofii konkrétní historické osobnosti, ale zároveň také představením hlavních proudů filosofického myšlení v dané přelomové epoše.
