Description
  • The goal of this project is to understand a complex genetic background of the regulation of flower induction in the genus Chenopodium represented by Chenopodium rubrum. We will extend a previous study focused on the genes CrFTL1 and CrCOL, homologs of Arabidopsis genes FLOWERING LOCUS T and CONSTANS, respectively. These studies revealed unusual expression pattern of the floral inducer CrFTL1 in C. rubrum, different from other short-day plant models. We propose to identify new flowering-related genes in C. rubrum by applying next generation sequencing for transcriptome analyzes. We also plan to achieve functional analyzis of newly identified genes by adopting a method of genetic transformation of C. rubrum. The function of flowering-related genes, identified in C. rubrum, will be examined in C. quinoa, an important crop from South America. (en)
  • Cílem projektu je pochopit genetické pozadí regulace kvetení u rodu Chenopodium na modelu Chenopodium rubrum. Projekt navazuje na předešlou studii zaměřenou na klíčové geny CrFTL1 aCrCOL, homologa FLOWERING LOCUS T a CONSTANS u Arabidopsis. Naše studie odhalily neobvyklý průběh exprese květního induktoru CrFTL1 u C. rubrum, odlišný od ostatních zkoumaných krátkodenních rostlin. Nyní navrhujeme identifikovat u C. rubrum další geny související s kvetením pomocí analýzy transkriptomu metodami sekvenování další generace. Dále chceme provést analýzu funkce nově nalezených genů pomocí genetické transformace C. rubrum. Role genů účastnících se regulace kvetení u C. rubrum bude zkoumána také u C. quinoa, důležité plodiny Jižní Ameriky.
