Description	The project is aimed to expand knowledge of the transformation of the art status in the late 18th century, based on the work of learned artist Andreas Schweigl. It is the analysis and interpretation of those aspects of his work, related to general issues of Central European culture, society and identity transformation on the verge of the modern era, or the social functions of fine art in this process. The research will be conducted through the analysis of literary and artistic works and archival sources. The interpretation of art forms with critical approach to style will not be the research objective, but mainly the receptive and functional analysis, or clarification of the social change shaped by the cultural and artistic spheres around the year 1800. Research will therefore focus mainly on the artistic transformation of functions of art, issues of new audience, methods of image perception and critical evaluation of art, as well as analysis of the transforming status of artist and artistic creation as an actor mutually creating basic principles of the emerging modern society. (en) Projekt je zacílen na rozšíření poznatků o proměně statutu umění na konci 18. století, a to na příkladu díla učeného umělce Ondřeje Schweigla. Jde o analýzu a interpretaci oněch aspektů umělcovy tvorby, jenž souvisejí s obecnějšími otázkami proměn (středo)evropské kultury, společnosti a její identity na prahu moderní éry, respektive se sociální funkcí výtvarného umění v tomto procesu. Výzkum bude realizován primárně prostřednictvím analýzy výtvarných a literárních děl a archivních pramenů. Cílem nebude interpretace výtvarných forem v intencích stylově-kritického přístupu, ale především receptivně-funkční analýza, respektive objasnění významu sociálně determinovaných změn v kulturní a umělecké sféře kolem roku 1800. Výzkum bude proto zaměřen zejména na proměny uměleckých úloh a funkce umění, otázky nových diváckých vrstev, způsobů percepce obrazu a kritického hodnocení umění, jakož i na analýzu proměňujícího se statutu umělce, a umělecké tvorby v roli činitele spoluutvářejícího základní principy vznikající moderní společnosti.
