Description	The aim of the three year project is the geothermal research of the Chicxulub impact structure in Yucatan peninsula in Mexico, which is believed to represent a large meteorite impact crater responsible for the mass animal extinctions at the KT-boundary.In a frame of the International Continental Scientific Drilling Program, the drilling of the cored borehole Yaxcopoil-1 to the depth of 1.5 km was finished there in February 2002. The proposed geothermal research, which has been approved and incorporatedinto the Chicxulub Scientific Drilling Project, involves temperature logging of the existing older boreholes in the region to the depths of 400-800 m by the logging tool of the Geophysical Institute Prague (GFU), detailed measurements of thermalconductivity depth variations in the successfully logged older boreholes and in borehole Yaxcopoil-1 (by the GFU apparatus) and interpretation of the obtained data including the temperature profile from borehole Yaxcopoil-1 (measured by the group of (en) Cílem navrhovaného tříletého projektu je geotermický výzkum meteoritického kráteru Chicxulub na poloostrově Yucatan v Mexiku, jehož vznik je spojován s masovým vymíráním živočichů na rozhraní druhohor a třetihor. V rámci programu Mezinárodního vědeckéhovrtání na kontinentech (International Continental Scientific Drilling Program) byl v únoru 2002 v tomto kráteru dokončen 1.5 km hluboký jádrovaný vrt Yaxcopoil-1. Zde předložený geotermický výzkum, jehož koncepce byla schválena a začleněna do Projektuvědeckého vrtání Chicxulub (Chicxulub Scientific Drilling Project) zahrnuje měření teploty v existujících starších vrtech v oblasti do hloubek 400-800 m aparaturou Geofyzikálního ústavu Praha (GFÚ), detailní proměření variací tepelné vodivosti s hloubkouve starších vrtech, kde bude změřena teplota a ve vrtu Yaxcopoil-1 (rovněž přístrojem GFÚ) a interpretaci naměřených dat včetně teplotního profilu Yaxcopoil-1 (kde provádí teplotní karotáž skupina Prof.Wilhelma z Karlsruhe, SRN) z hlediska geotermického
