Efflorescence is a type of discoloration. It is a deposit, usually white in colour that occasionally develops on the surface of concrete, often just after a structure is completed. Although usually harmless, efflorescence is unattractive and often spoils visual aspects of whole structures. It often causes significant economical losses. The present project aims at reducing this problem. It has experimental and analytical parts. The experimental part will result in deepening knowledge of conditions and circumstances under which effloresce can occur. It will also yield recommendation regarding concrete mixtures, (incl. special additives) to reduce the risk efflorescence formation. The analytical part of the research will produce a new FE based computer program that will allow computer prediction of moisture and salts contents in a concrete element (or a whole structure). Knowledge of these histories is essential for tackling the problem of efflorescence. (en)
Cílem projektu je vytvoření nového analytického modelu predikce transportu vlhkosti a solí v betonu. Model bude verifikován jak laboratorními experimenty, tak i zkouškami na vybraných betonových prvcích. Cílem projektu je také hledání vhodných blokátorů obezujících tvorbu výkvětů
