Description
| - This project is aimed at the investigation of wave phenomena due to dynamic loadings of discrete structures on various scales. The structures considered range from generally non-periodic arrays of atoms forming crystal lattices containg defects, such as cracks in molecular dynamics simulations, through systems with distributed parameters, such as finite element models, to macroscopic objects, such as machinery metal components subject to forming. A common denominator is wave dispersion and/or scattering, which may take on a character of either the truncation error of a numerical model or may be of true physical nature. As vehicles, the following methods will be employed: potentials governing atomic structures determined by ab initio quantum mechanics computation, on the micro level, and the classic dispersion analysis, on the global level. Theoretical results will be applied to high strain rate loadings of ductile materials in order to assess breakdowns of mechanical connecting elements (bolts, nuts, rivets, spot welds), which is of prominent interest to car and aircraft producers.

| - Projekt rozšířil poznatky v oblasti lineární i nelineární dynamiky, zahrnující elastoplastické rázy a disperzní šíření vln v heterogenních strukturách či numericky diskretizovaných kontinuech. (cs)
- Project extend knowledge in the field of linear and nonlinear dynamics, including elastic-plastic shocks and dispersive wave propagation in heterogeneous solids and computationally discretized continua. The results could be utilized e.g., for the assessment of ductile damage to nuclear power plant components. Project outputs can be used for tuition. Outputs of the project solving are excelent. (en)
