Description
  • Main reason for the limited exploitation of precision farming principles in weed control practice is still the lack of information about spatial distribution of weed populations in agricultural fields. This project is concerned on detection of Cirsium arvense L. in cereals with use of multispectral imagery. Typically, C.arvense overgrows a cereal stand in pre-harvest time and its spectral properties differ markedly from the crop. This can be used for its identification. High resolution images will be acquired using Duncantech multispectral CCD camera. This camera allows simultaneous acquisition of green, red and near-infrared spectral bands. The whole imaging system will be carried by a remote controlled airship. Image acquisition will be accomplished at altitudes of about 150 m, which will provide a high spatial resolution (0.1 – 0.2 m per pixel), and minimize atmospheric effects. (en)
