  • Cílem projektu je vytvoření biomatematiky se zaměřením na ekologii na Jihočeské univerzitě, což je interdisciplinární obor potřebný zejména při řešení současných složitých otázek životního prostředí. Využívá jak poznatků matematiky pro řešení ekologické problematiky, tak poznatků ekologie pro rozvoj matematiky. Pozornost bude zaměřena zejména na populární dynamiku organismů, dynamiku společenstev a dynamiku, samoregulaci a řízení ekosystémů. Mezi těmito úrovněmi existují zpětné vazby, jejichž poznání jepodstatné pro každou z nich. Podstatná je rovněž potřeba využít pro každou z těchto úrovní současně postupů informatiky, statistiky a kybernetiky. (cs)
  • "32 papers were published and prepared for print in refereed international journals. Connection matrices were used for mathematical modeling of trophic interactions among organisms. Optimality principles were elaborated for several processes in ecosystemsThe temperature of the surface, depth distribution and mixing depth of lakes was found to strongly depend on phytoplankton. A model of daily vertical migration of zooplankton was formulated. Light intensity did not appear to be the cause of migrations. The ultimate factors of migrations are the fish predation and the need to gain food, modifying variables are mainly concentration and distribution of food, and oxygen distribution. Model of effect of photoinhibition on algal photosynthesis was developedThe laboratory has gained international recognition by ample participation in the workshop ""Form individuals to populations"", with representatives of 12 countries. A model of uncertainty in the population dynamics of organisms was formulated." (en)
