Synanthropic mites are pests of medical and economical importance. It is assumed that gut associated bacteria participate on utilization of structural polysaccharides. The microbial symbionts may influence the production of “lysozyme-like” proteins. Proteins of similar MW are the major mite allergens of group 2. The proposed project is focused on the proteins of bacterial origin playing enzymatic function in the mite guts or exhibiting allergen activity. The main goals of the project are: (i) to ascertain the influence of bactericidal compounds on the changes of digestive enzyme activity (ii) to prove origin of group 2 mite allergens by imunological methods (iii) to indentify and characterize the proteins of bacterial origin by proteomic methods. The project will bring new information concerning to feeding biology of mites and the medical importance of associated microorganisms. Obtained knowledge about the bacterial symbionts can be used for development a novel symbiont-based control strategies (SCS (en)
Cílem projektu je identifikovat proteiny/enzymy bakteriálního původu se zvláštním ohledem na jejich alergenní účinek a funkci v potravní biologii roztočů. (cs)
