Cílem projektu je použít proteomické techniky k identifikaci obranných proteasových inhibitorů modelové rostliny a k charakterizaci jejich interakce s hmyzími trávicími proteasami. (cs)
The project is focused on proteomic analysis of plant defense proteins and their protein-protein interactions. It concentrates on protease inhibitors that are biosynthesized in plants as insecticidal proteins. When ingested, they ively block the enzymatic activity of digestive proteases of insect herbivores. Plant protease inhibitors have potential application in plant biotechnologies and represent highly promising compounds for the development of new crops resistant to insect pests. The principal aim of the project is to design and apply proteomic tools for the identification and functional characterization of plant protease inhibitors and their target insect proteases. The project will increase our understanding of plant pathophysiology and complex molecular interactions between plants and insects. (en)
