Description
  • Project is going to characterize gene expression profiling of circulating tumor cells (CTC) in experimental mice metastatic models, with a special impact on gene expression of CTC homing factors. CTC are disseminated cells produced by primary tumor mostly, starting metastasing processes. CTC count in blood reflects the dynamics of the cancer disease. Based on the different mRNA oncogene expression in CTC we can monitor the whole process. The cells lines used to produce the experimental metastatic models in mice will be labelled by green fluorescent protein (GFP). Single cell gene expression analysis of primary tumor cells, circulating tumor cells and metastatic cells should help us to identify the subpopulation of circulating tumor cells, for which the genomic profile would be homing-specific, what would be of a crucial importance for new cancer treatment strategies.
