The INTERNATIONAL FEDERATION OF AUTOMATIC CONTROL, founded in September 1957, is a multinational federation of 52 National Member Organizations, each one representing the engineering and scientific societies concerned with automatic control in its own country. The Federation is governed by its Council. Subject only to the directions of the General Assembly, the Council will formulate the policies of the Federation. It shall develop the long-term plans of the Federation for approval by the General Assembly and shall instruct the various boards and committees of IFAC accordingly. The Council shall direct and supervise the functioning of the Federation, including both the technical and the executive activities. Prof. Michael Sebek will serves in the IFAC Council starting 2008. The proposed project aims to support financially his service in his prestigious position. (en)
