Description
  • The aim of the project is to get funds to cover the annual membership fee of the Czech Republic in the International Continental Scientific Drilling Program (ICDP) between 2008-2012. Research associated with deep drilling is important in understanding internal Earth structure and processes. It enables to test recent geological models. Since its foundation in 1996, ICDP has enriched basic research in seismology, volcanology, impact structure studies, ore deposits, climate change etc. Thanks to program INGO of the Ministery of Education between 2003-2007, Czech Republic became ICDP member in 2003. Among the benefits of the ICDP membership belong opportunity to participate in individual ICDP projects all over the world, free participation at preparatory workshops of future projects and free participation of young scientists in ICDP training courses.
