The drag of rotor hub is a major contributor to the overall drag of helicopter. it is therfore important to throughly investigate possible techniques to reduce the drug of this unit. The overall aim of the project is to undertake a wind tunel test and produce a high quality experimantal data set to allow this to be done. Load cells will be utilised to measure forces generated by the overall model and also to measure the loads of specific components of the model. The loads data will be supplemented by flow field data which will be acquired using Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) systems, both 3D and time-resolved (TR). (en)
