| - Cílem projektu je zkoumat prvotní prameny k historii a teorii fotografie, uspořádat tematicky a historicky jejich výběr od prehistorie média do současnosti a následně vydat antologii, která by poskytla nástin vývoje myšlení o médiu, jenž představuje jeden z pilířů moderní vizuální kultury. (cs)
- The proposed project seeks to research primary sources for the history and theory of photography in order to select and publish historically and thematically significant texts from the prehistory of the medium to the present. The planned two-volume edition will thus provide students with an overview of the history of thinking on photography, one of the cornerstones of modern visual culture. The project responds to the exponential growth of literature on photography that has resulted from the rapid development of new technologies as well as from the rise of new disciplines that focus on visual aspects of modern culture. The project draws on the work of J. Anděl who since the 1970s has conducted research on the subject and published numerous texts on modern visual culture while collaborating with leading scholars in other countries, including Nathan Lyons, Anne W. Tucker, Christopher Phillips, and Jean-Francois Chevrier. The project will also highlight a contribution of Czech authors and place them in a wider historical and geographical context. The two-volume anthology will consist of thirty-two chapters organized historically and thematically with introductions and critical commentary. It will also contain a bibliography, name index, and editorial notes. (en)
