Description	"The detailed knowledge of genetick structures as well as phylogeographic positions of extant remnant populations of endagered, rare and vanishing fish species underlies the efficient, scientifically well-founded conservation efforts based on the identification of ""conservational important units"" (CIU). Application of described or developing of new ones (RFLP, mtDNA, ploidy identification) for identification of CIU is prerequisite in this field. The aim of this project is a) necessary application of described markers in spiny loaches (Cobitis), gudgeons (Gobio), sculpins (Cottusú and grayling (Thymallus), b) developing of new markers in asp, loach, asper and bitterling." (en) "Detailní znalost genetické struktury a fylogeografického postavení stávajících zbytkových populací ohrožených, vzácných a mizejících ryb je nezbytným základem pro jejich účinnou ochranu prostřednictvím identifikace ""ochranářsky důležitých jednotek"". Aplikace známých a vývoj nových molekulárních a dalších genetických znaků (RFLP, mtDNA, stanovení ploidie) je nezbytným předpokladem v tomto směru. Záměrem projektu je proto a) využití znaků již popsaných a sekavců rodu Cobitis, hrouzků rodu Gobi, vranek rodu Cottus a lipana Thymallus, b) vývoj a specifikace těchto znaků u bolena, piskoře, ostruchy, drska a hořavky."
