Description
- Problems of linear algebra will be extended in three directions: the coefficients of the problems may be matricial blocks, or belong to a noncommutative ring, or in the third direction, problems involving positive definite quadratic forms will be generalized to positive multiquadratic forms, positive quartic forms, etc. The first direction is important for special classes of matrices such as M-matrices, or matrices occuring in linear control systems, such as Hankel, Loewner, companion natrices ofpolynomials etc., the second e.g. for totally positive matrices, the third could have prospective use in technical and theoretical-physics problems in cases where positive definite quadratic forms do not suffice in the modelling.
