DEFINITION
  • CD72 antigen (359 aa, 40 kD) is a cell adhesion process protein that is encoded by the human CD72 gene and has a role in cell adhesion.NCI
DesignNote
  • Expression of CD72 is restricted to B-lineage cells and is turned off in differentiated antibody-secreting plasma cells. CD72 may participate in signals for B-cell proliferation and differentiation. In the immune system, CD72 appears to be a receptor for leukocyte activation antigen, CD100. CD72 may also be the ligand for CD5, a receptor that regulates T-cell proliferation.
