Description
| - One of the key engineering properties of eggshell material is the Young's modulus E. Its knowledge enables e.g. the evaluation of the eggshell strength, which is important parameter of the egg quality. There are many techniques for evaluation of the main elastic properties. Generally, they include static loading and different kinds of dynamic loading. However, these techniques cover a bulk material and do not describe the local mechanical properties. A very promising procedure useable for this task seems to be a nanoindentation. The method is based on the direct measurement of the load-displacement relationship. The depth of penetration starts from the nanometer scale. Presented work describes the basic principles and preliminary results of indentation measurements.
