| - Porcine IGF2 gene, localized on chromosome 2, is paternally expressed and was identified as the major candidate gene for QTL primarily affecting muscle development, fat deposition and size of the heart in pigs. Polymorphisms of the porcine IGF2 gene are characterised in several studies. NciI polymorphism in intron 8 was shown to have a significant effect on body weight in Large White pigs and on total number of born piglets and number of piglets born alive in Black Pied Přeštice pigs. In our work, we analyzed the association between IGF2/NciI polymorfism and growth and meat performance in pigs of the Large White breed. A significant effect of this polymorfism on backfat thickness and lean meat content was found. Significant differences were observed between sows of genotypes AA and AB, AA and BB for both analysed traits.

- Gen IGF2 u prasete, lokalizovaný na chromozomu 2, je paternálně exprimovaný a byl identifikován jako hlavní kandidátní gen pro QTL ovlivňující vývoj svalů, ukládání tuku a velikost srdce u prasat. V tomto genu u prasat byly řadou studií charakterizovány různé polymorfismy. NciI polymorfismus v intronu 8 má vliv na hmotnost těla u plemene Bílé ušlechtilé a na počet všech narozených a živě narozených selat u plemene Přeštické černostrakaté. V této práci jsme se zaměřili na studium vztahu mezi IGF2/NciI polymorfismem a masnou užitkovostí prasat plemene Bílé ušlechtilé. Zjistili jsme vztah mezi tímto polymorfismem a výškou hřbetního tuku a obsahem libového masa. Pro obě sledované vlastnosti byly sledovány významné rozdíly mezi prasnicemi s genotypy AA a BB, AA a BB.
