Description
| - The rapid development of technology and analytical instruments in the last 20 years allowed scientists to detect and quantify thousands of compounds which were difficult to analyse before. Kaempferol, a common biologically active phytochemical, occurs mostly in complex matrices together with other plant metabolites that complicate the analytical procedure. Various extraction and purification steps, including solid phase extraction, were therefore developed to facilitate the determination of kaempferol in complex biological samples. This chapter is an overview of currently used analytical instruments and their basic settings used to detect and quantify kaempferol in various plants, plant-derived sources and other biological samples.
