| - Wepresentsensitivityanalysisofgastransportproblemsrelatedtoexperimentalsetupsthatare routinelyusedfordeterminationofeffectivetransportparametersofmacroporoussolids.Therelevance of largetotalpressurevariationstoreliableestimationoftheeffectivetransportparametersis emphasized intwoexperimentalsetups,particularlyquasistationarypermeationandclassicalWicke- Kallenbach cells.Itisshownthatvariationsofothersystemparameters,suchastemperature,numberof gases orinlet flow ratescannotresembletheefficiency oftotalpressurechangesinestimatingthe parameters.FortheclassicalWicke-Kallenbach cellandbinarymixtures,itwasfoundthatthereare narrowintervalsofoutletmolefractionsinwhichtherelatedboundary-valueproblemexhibitsthe maximum sensitivitytomodifications ofthetransportparameters,i.e.therearetheoptimalconditions for regressionanalysis.Theruleofadjustingtheoptimalconditionsissimple:theoutletmolefractions, which caneasilybecontrolledbysettingtheinlet flow rates,mustbeclosetothemiddleoftheir admissible intervals.Porenetworkmodellingsupportedtheseresultsandhelpedusrevealasourceof systematicdeviationsbetweentheeffectivetransportparametersobtainedeitherfrompermeation experimentsorfromdiffusionexperiments.Specifically,theoverallnetwork flow rateresultingfrom non-linear functionalrelationshipsbetween fluxesanddrivingforcesontheporescaleandfromthelaw of massconservationinnetworknodesdoesnotexactlyconformtothesimilar flowratebasedonthe effectiveparametersifthetotalpressurespanislarge.Consequently,biasedvaluesoftheeffective transport parameterscounterbalancethedeficiency oftheassociatedmodels
