| - Paper presents results of fist stage of development of a steam-air mixture heater which is involved in “Research and development of a flexible energy system transforming primary energy of biomass and alternative fuels by their combustion, or waste heat from different heat units, to electric energy with possible co-generation of higher efficiency” project whose head of the research team is the company VÍTKOVICE POWER ENGINEERING Inc. Project objective is to design and put into operation a demonstration unit of new thermal cycle with duty of ca. 500 kWe which will enable verification of mathematical model of the cycle, type of regulation, and impact of wet steam-air mixture parameters on efficiency, generated power duty, specific compression work and expansion work. It will also enable verification of parameters and methodology of design of key components. Paper describes initial development phase of one of key components of a cycle, i.e. steam-air mixture heater (shortly called block S-AMH) designated for heating of steam-air mixture by flue gas of very high temperature (1200 °C).
