The project deals with current and timely problems: basic research of new types of optical sources and the properties of their optical beams applicable for optical wireless communication. It zeros in on both the problems of external and internal optical networks. Different types of sources are examined, especially power LEDs and coherent sources (diode and gas lasers). The polarization effect and their coherence are under investigation in the form of optical waves; and the optimum beam profile regarding optical intensity distribution is sought in all of these sources. The project deals not only with theoretical aspects and optical beams and atmosphere simulation, but also with the measurement problems and measurement methodology with regard to the optical mobile communications in both external and internal areas. The project solves different possibilities of the implementation of elements (EDFA, WDM and ADM), and fiber optics approach with regard to the technology of the wireless connections. Based on the light and atmospheric interaction model, the modulation techniques are designed and the communication limits concerning the connections bit rate, reliability and bit error rate, along with the optical stations mobility maintenance, are defined.
