Description
| - Ascorbic acid, known as vitamin C, interferes significantly in determinations of numerous clinically important organic compounds (glucose, dopamine, cholesterol, etc.) where enzymatic biosensors based on oxidoreductases are used. Sensitivity of ascorbic acid to increased temperature and light could be useful for its elimination from samples. Ascorbic acid is an electroactive substance which can simply be oxidized at carbon paste electrode to dehydro-L-ascorbic acid in acidic or neutral media. Concerning cyclic voltammetry in this study, following parameters were adjusted: potential range, -0.4 to +1.0 V vs. Ag|AgCl|3.0 M KCl; scan rate, 50 mV s?1; potential step, 5 mV; number of scans, n=5-10. All experiments were performed with 1.0x10-3 M ascorbic acid solutions in 0.1 M phosphate buffer (pH 7.0; 25 +- 1 °C).
