Description
  • This paper presents a research project that tries to examine the topic of spirituality in sport in a contemporary context. It brings a conception of a concrete research which focuses on the perception of spirituality within several selected kinds of movement activity. The research consists of the questionnaire which is divided into three parts. The first part is presented by the rating scale containing 62 items, the second part uses the method of free word associations and unfinished sentences, and the third one consists of mind maps completely made by the respondents. The final form of questionnaire is based on the same principles for all the kinds of movement activity. However, all the questions are concretely adjusted for one concrete activity. For the purposes of this paper football, canoeing and climbing were used. The aim of the paper is to introduce a conception of the research and its structure more in detail. There are some conceptual, technical and sometimes philosophical (done by the topic) questions asked here which could help the researchers to find the best definite form of the research instruments. The research itself is under preparation which means the concrete results have not been available yet. It is very difficult to define the term of spirituality. It is even more difficult in the sport settings. The research is focused on perception of spirituality, which means on the issue how spirituality is understood and felt by the concrete sportsmen and sportswomen. The researchers suppose the respondents are generally people of very practical interests. This paper introduces the research instrument which tries to be spiritual on one hand and at the same time understandable and interesting for the respondents on the other hand. The authors believe that the results will be useful to disclose some new aspects of human movement.
