Description
  • Isolation of bacterial strains was performed on solid media containing NMP as the only carbon source. Biodegradation trials were performed in liquid media with 300 mg/L NMP; the efficiency of degradation was measured by dissolved organic carbon determination. Identification of the degraders was done by their base characteristics and 16S rDNA sequencing. Individual bacterial strains showed different rates and extents of NMP degradation but all of them were able to utilize it as the only carbon source. Subsequent identification of the degraders by 16S rDNA sequencing revealed, that the strains able to NMP degradation are representatives of Parracoccus, Rhodococcus, Pseudomonas and Acinetobacter genera.
