Description
  • We present a method and a real-time algorithm which allows us to classify Acoustic Emission (AE) signals into finite number of groups which correspond with the physical nature of AE sources. We classify them using spectral parameters and nonmetrical distances, both independent on signals amplitudes. We would like to distinguish detected signals emitted by dfferent suppressed acoustic emission sources in materials (for example long-distant micro de- fect, corrosion, etc.) and also to separate them from common noise. We produce sets of several types of experimental signals to verify the algorithm. The model, which estimates the under- lying distribution of spectral parameters, originated from the frame of multimodal probability density estimates, from abstract statistical model of distribution mixtures.
