  • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a robust and high speed (calculation quantity of a logarithmic order for the number of models) image retrieval method. SOLUTION: The image retrieval method includes an extraction process for extracting a plurality of specific areas each having a property capable of normalizing shapes from one or more sheets of learning images regardless of affine transformation thereof as affine invariant areas, a calculation process for calculating, as a set, other affine invariant areas near an affine invariant area as a reference, a deformation process for deforming the nearby affine invariant area by using the transformation to normalize the shape of the affine invariant area as the reference, and an output process for outputting the deformed shape of the nearby affine invariant area together with the combination of the affine invariant area as the reference and the nearby affine invariant area.
