Description
  • Droplet size spectra and wetness loss in 210 MW fossil and 1000 MW nuclear LP steam turbines were evaluated by means of the corrected classical nucleation theory (CNT). The statistical bcomputation method was used in numerical simulations. The results were validated with turbine optical transmittance data, nozzle tests and Baumann factor from the turbine loss measurements. A good agreement with experimental results suggests that the corrected CNT can serve, so far, as an adequate model for engineering prediction and analysis of the wet steam effects in LP steam turbines.
