Description
  • Entheseal changes (EC) at the skeletons of past populations are supposed to be related to the social status of individuals characterized by localization/depth of grave or grave goods. The main aim of this contribution was to verify the existence of relationships between distributions of the EC and archaeological data. Fibrocartilaginous entheses of upper and lower limb bones of 115 individuals (aged 20-50 years) from the early medieval burial site Mikulčice – Kostelec were evaluated by the method of Villotte (2006). The entheses were separated into four groups according to function. Factor analysis (FA) was applied three times with three different combinations of descriptors: 1) groups of entheses; 2) groups of entheses, sex and age; 3) archeological data. Third step was important for validation of results gained from anthropological data.
