Description
  • The authors describe the case of a 9-year-old boy with a severe bullous skin reaction. Initially, disseminated macular exanthema with a few atypical target lesions on the trunk and extremities followed respiratory infection treated with penicillin. Later, fever, malaise and progression to blisters that cover about 25 - 30% of the skin surface developed. The clinical manifestation, histopathological examination, direct immunofluorescence and serological tests were pivotal for diagnosis of SJS/TEN. The general characteristics of the clinical subtypes of Erythema multiforme and severe blistering reactions and their etiopathogenesis are discussed along with therapeutic procedure including indications for systemic corticosteroid administration.
