Description	The paper deals with a topical issue of ever increasing volumes of plastic packaging. A sociological survey on “Packaging Material Awareness” has been carried out dealing with the issue in question. Its objective was to outline problems to do with a launch of new biodegradable polylactid acid (PLA) bottles. Next, it aimed to identify and document social entities’ awareness whom the issue concerns and thus verify how they are perceived by the public and whether according to the respondents it is worth tracing the path of biodegradable packaging in the future. The survey was carried out among consumers, packaging producers, companies that fill their products in such packagings, store chains and finally, waste disposal companies. The results of the sociological survey imply that the lay public perceive a launch of biodegradable packaging in a positive manner, while the packaging producers and companies that use the packaging to fill in their products are rather sceptical to the materials.
