  • The effect of non-woven textile (NT) on the yield of potatoes was studied in growing seasons 2003-2006 in Přerov nad Labem. In 2006 also the effect of perforated foil (PF) on yield of tubers was observed. In the experiment with two cultivars of potatoes - Adora and Impala the yield 60 days after planting with using NT and PF was evaluated. Since 2003 the air (AT) and soil (ST) temperatures, the soil water potential and in 2006 the photosynthetic activity of radiation (PHAR) were measured at all experimental variants. Using NT increased the AT (by 2.0, 2.9 and 2.1°C) and the ST (by 1.5, 2.2 and 3.2°C) in appropriated years (2003, 2005 and 2006). Result in, the yields of potatoes under NT increased in comparison with control variant by 508.0% in 2003 (caused by freeze of the uncovered control variant) and by 10.9 % in 2005. In 2006 by reason of damage of growth by high stressful temperatures under NT and PF, lower yield by 33.3% was reached. Using PF increased the AT by 2.7°C and the ST by 1.9°C in com
