Description	The subject matter of this study emerged from a hypothesis that the members of emigrant groups who left the Czech lands before the period of ´national revival´, had not originally shared Czech national culture/identity which was created only after their departure and transmitted to the ´Czechs abroad´ within the scope of so-called fellow-countryman care executed by the Czechoslovak Republic in the interwar period. The basis of our hypothesis concerns a constructivist concept of nation which we consider more appropriate for examining fellow-countryman communities than the primordialist theoretical approach which had constituted the very base for Czech ethnography having fellow-countrymen as one of its central subjects before the Velvet Revolution.
