Description
  • Ensuring public safety and protection of essential security interests is one of the main tasks of the state. Ensuring of the safety of human lives, health, environment, property and public welfare is directly subject to the functionality of the web of physical, cyber and organizational systems, which are a critical infrastructure in the state. Today's modern society is completely dependent on well-functioning infrastructure that can provide and satisfy the essential needs of the technological security sufficient quantity drinking water, food, supplies electricity, heat, and others. In 2010, the Czech Republic has started a program of research dealing with the protection, safety, and increasing the resilience of critical infrastructure areas. The paper will presented first results from the project dealing with: The safety assessment of critical infrastructure and alternative possibilities to increase the security of cities and municipalities in the drinking water of major natural disasters and industrial accidents. The project lead assembled a team of top experts and take into account the intensity and complexity of the issue. The expert team is composed of leading researchers in the fields of water resources, water treatment technology, distribution networks and also by experts in the field of security and protection of critical infrastructure. Complexity and realistic outcomes of the project are supported by the establishment of cooperation with the operator of water management infrastructure, which will allow testing of outcomes in the case studies.
