Description
  • Digital reconstruction of sample surfaces in scanning electron microscopy is a challenging problem as the diverse character of samples does not allow for any a-priori constrains on the shape of surfaces. A new method has been developed enabling to compute the surfaces with a high resolution, based on detailed disparity analysis - space density of the resulting height data is the half of pixel density. Besides giving a basic overview on the approach, the contribution mentions the new, marginal but important, additions to the approach enabling routine application even in difficult cases of rough surfaces the analysis of which was not envisaged in the initial stage of the project. Several examples of calculated surfaces together with initial image data and some intermediate data sets have shown the feasibility of practical use of the method for different types of microscopic samples.
