Description
  • This research project, proposed jointly by Crop Research Institute Prague and SELTON s.r.o., is aimed at obtaining high level of resistance to Fusarium head blight (FHB) and increased efficiency of breeding wheat for this desirable character, which will guarantee reduction of contamination of grain by mycotoxins produced by Fusarium pathogens. Firstly, the project is oriented to the detection and detailed description of new resistance sources. Newly developed method of determination of mycotoxin DON content will be verified and it can be expected that this cheaper and quick method, will enable to increase the number of analyzed breeding material (perform desirable analyses from early hybrid generations). It is advantageous that research and breeding company SELTON s.r.o. is involved in this project, which will guarantee analysis of desirable high amount of breeding material adapted to Central European conditions.
