The project “Hepatitis E virus detection in market pigs, in the processing plants and pork-based foodstuffs in the trade network of the Czech Republic” will be solved by the research team “Food Virology” within the VRI participation in the project COST 929 including monitoring the HEV occurrence in different EU member states. The purpose of the project is to develop a real time PCR assay for revealing presence of RNA HEV that will be applied for routine detection of HEV. Information obtained by introduction and verification of the real time PCR assay will be used for detection of HEV in liver of market pigs and pork liver-based products distributed in our trade network. Possible cross-contaminations during the processing will be also assessed. The project will above all contribute to the risk assessment of HEV transmission to the meat industry personnel and consumers of the above mentioned foodstuffs. (en)
Použití vyvinuté metody vedlo k průkazu HEV u jatečných prasat, prasat divokých a pacientů s HE. (cs)
The method for HEV RNA detection and quantification of hepatitis E (HEV) virus from different matrices was developed within the project. HEV was found in pig carcasses, wild boars and human patients with HE. (en)
